Bikes

I like nice bikes, and gear in general... it's a problem... I know.   In my defense, however, I'd argue that bikes are like friends:  There are some who are solid and stable, some who are fast and fun, and some you can always count on.

And well... you can never have too many friends... right? :)

Ferdinand

Ferdinand is a Trek FX 4 Sport.  And quite frankly, I have no idea where he got this name.  My plan was to use him as my "grandma bike" - basically to ride around in circles with my grandson, or maybe even pull a trailer.  I told myself that I'd leave this one at my daughter's to be used when I visit.  (Famous last words. ) And yes, when I found myself leaving NH - Ferdinand was in the van... go figure!

I swapped out the flat bars for Jones bars and decided the more upright position made for a great causal touring ride.  He's quickly become my go to bike when running errands or meandering down a trail.

Dan (as in Steely Dan)

Dan is a Niner RTL 9 Steel:  Rock solid, heavy and stubborn, Dan can stay the course on even the toughest rail trails.  This is the first bike I purchased after my father died and the one that saved me.  No matter how many bikes come and go, Dan will remain my favorite.

Livvie

Livvie is a Liv Devote Advanced Pro: Fun, fast and finicky, she's not a bike that travels with me. But what can I say, we all need that one friend who always looks great and can party with the best of them.
